A Transient Love was comissioned by Maitland Regional Art Gallery as an installation during the Summer. These Marionettes were hung from the ceiling near the entry way to the Gallery.
Marionettes have long been used to communicate ideas, stories and histories of human society. The installation “A transient love” sees Ellie reflecting upon the intense and profound relationships that are formed with people while journeying. Ellie recreates these identities in puppet form by weaving and stitching together her hand crafted ceramics with fabrics, beads and threads collected on her travels.
I close my eyes. Colours surround me. I drift.
The hand of the sun, the soft caress of the moon. They lure me.
I am born from clay, from the earth, from a dream.
Watch as I dance. We dance. Moving to the rhythm of our collective heart beat.
I am here. I am a woman and I am more.
I shine brightly among the colours of the world. Like refracted light, I am a rainbow.
In a sea of faces, a tidal wave of facades, I know myself.
The feminine energy engulfs me and guides me forwards toward my bliss. Strong, powerful, divine.
I am awakened. I am alive.
Growing. Blossoming. In bloom
Delicate as the petals of my flower
Strong, grounded, powerful
Look at me now. I know no fear. Look at me now. I am here
